Our PerioLase dental laser allows Dr. Winkler, Dr. Goldsmith and Dr. Tarjan to perform many gum tissue procedures without causing the trauma associated with traditional gum surgery. PerioLase's precision laser beam effectively removes bacteria, damaged gum tissue, overgrown gum tissue, and can even perform soft tissue biopsies and cold sore treatment.

Laser Periodontal Therapy™
In addition to debriding gum tissue (removing bacteria from infected pockets), with PerioLase, we can remove damaged gum tissue to promote new tissue growth. Traditionally, an electrosurge or scalpel was used for this therapy. These invasive procedures traumatize soft tissue and create the need for stitches to seal surgical sites. PerioLase, however, seals soft tissue as it works, so no sutures are necessary, and bleeding is minimal. Most patients experience a prompt recovery.

Cosmetic Gum Recontouring
If your teeth appear short, excessive gum tissue may hide your smile's full potential. With laser gum recontouring, Dr. Winkler, Dr. Goldsmith or Dr. Tarjan will quickly and efficiently remove overgrown gum tissue to create an attractive gum line and uncover your full, beautiful smile. A similar procedure will even-out the gum line when asymmetry is a concern.

Crown Lengthening
Sometimes, to make room for a crown the gum tissue must be reduced a bit. This procedure is known as crown lengthening. Our PerioLase gently and precisely edges back gum tissue to create sufficient space for a dental crown.

Cold Sore Treatment
Cold sores hurt. They don't look very attractive, either. One short session with the PerioLase can eradicate a cold sore. Even better, the area where the cold sore existed will never be able to develop another sore!

Biopsies
If you need an oral cancer biopsy of soft tissue, the PerioLase provides a prompt, comfortable solution.
